Beh, ora che anche i Mac montano processori Intel, fare una comparazione fra le macchine Apple e quelle di altri produttori è molto più semplice.
Sia per fare un confronto con i prezzi, sia per quanto riguarda le prestazioni pure.
Prima era difficile se non impossibile, e spesso si faceva riscorso a delle strane alchimie per rendere confrontabili i processori PPC con quelli x86.
Tutto questo ora non è più necessario.
Ora rimangono i due OS, Mac OS X e Windows (non mi sono scordato di Linux, ma è oggettivamente difficile trovare produttori che installino una distro linux sulle loro macchine… purtroppo!), e si potrà vedere molto chiaramente come vanno le applicazioni sulle rispettive piattaforme.
Photoshop contro Photoshop, tutto su x86.
I Mactel escono ora, e non ci sono universal binary della app più conosciute.
Il confronto è rimandato.
Ma non quello sui prezzi!!

Sfatare un mito

I Mac costano troppo!
Quante volte lo abbiamo sentito? E quante volte ci siamo arrabbiati per questa affermazione?!
Non è vero. E ora lo vedranno molto più chiaramente!

This durability cannot come with a weight penalty. Inexpensive notebooks are usually made out of inferior materials. You need a lot more of these materials to create a product that will last at least a year (or until the warranty lapses) and this makes them heavy.

A durable lightweight PC is not cheap to assemble so it obviously isn’t cheap to sell. If durability and portability matter to you than you are probably willing to pay a little more for it. If these characteristics mean nothing to you that is fine — you have tons of choices and none of them will be an Apple.

I computer pro hanno dei requisiti di affidabilità che si pagano: materiali migliori, materiali più leggeri.
Macchine pro, come il MacBook, vanno confrontate con macchine delle stassa categoria.
La tabella in fondo alla pagina mostra chiaramente come i prezzi e le caratteristiche siano molto allineate.
E visto che si parla di portatili, una cosa va aggiunta: il MacBook Pro è il più leggero e il meno ingombrante fra i concorrenti di questa piccola competizione!
